First of all, this is the recipe that every one asks me for. Whenever I have given that cake as a present, I have been asked for its recipe. Fortunately I know it by heart. But I thought to myself, be with it, post it and you won’t have to write it so many times!
I know I am going to get a lot of thanks for this one but I want to be honest and say : this is a recipe that I got from Monique, who got it from Colette, who got it from Rivkie who probably got it from her sister etc , etc… So I don’t know where it comes from, I only know who gave it to me. Thank you Monique. ( how many times did I make that cake in your kitchen?)
You see we want to give our friends and families, neighbors and colleagues, a good home made cake that take 2 minutes to make, just like the 1234 cake. So you think, 1,2, 3 and presto! But what about the 4? What is it for? Take a good look , a vertical one.
My Advice: Before you start, look at the tips below.
- 1 cup oil
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups flour +1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 4 eggs
Mix everything in a bowl, (hand or mixer) and add your favorites:
- a dash of salt, a little bit of lemon juice
- a taste of cinnamon
- some real vanilla essence
Then add 3 diced apples or any cut up fruit in season. Mix again and bake in a tube cake, an angel food cake pan or a bundt pan slightly greased for at least 35 minutes at 365 F
Tip # 100 : You double, triple or quadruple the recipe. You gain in clean up time accordingly.
Tip #1 : You could cut down on the sugar, I always do.
Tip #2 : You could bake the dough in cup cakes and freeze them for ready to defrost snacks.
Tip #3 : You could use Tips 1 and 2 for any cake.
Tip #4 : You do not eat the cake all by yourself, this is not a tip, it is absolutely forbidden!
Tip #5 : While it’s baking, you clean up, have 2 cups of water and tell your friend to call me.
